Background
Leading Youth Forward (LYF), formerly known as Taiwanese American Youth Leadership (TAYL), is a camp held every June in the Bay Area for Taiwanese American youth in grades 5 through 12. The main purposes of the camp are to enhance Taiwanese American youths' understanding of their unique cultural heritage and to cultivate their communication and leadership skills.
This event serves as a fundraiser to assist LYF in meeting their operational budget needs for the 2011 camp. We invite you to join us for an afternoon of music, inspiration, and magic. John George, International Champion of Magic, has graciously offered to provide a magic show in support of LYF. Mr. George has won virtually every major close-up magic competition in the United States, including a first place at the International Brotherhood of Magicians Gold Cups Competition and the Society of American Magicians (S.A.M.) Close-up Competition.
Stephanie Lai and Tyson Mao, past and current vice presidents of TACL-LYF will perform a selection of Taiwanese folk songs for cello and piano. Dr. HoChie Tsai, creator and manager of TaiwaneseAmerican.org, will share his personal experiences with LYF/TAYL and leaders in Taiwanese American community who had benefited from the camp.
